What is School Letters Online?

The idea behind School Letters Online is simple - we want to help schools communicate with their pupils and parents more effectively. We’ve all experienced the current system: by accident (or design!), an important letter about your child’s parents’ evening is pulled dripping from the washing machine, or found lurking at the bottom of a school bag, days after the event.

School Letters Online is designed to put an end to such hit or miss communication, by delivering every school letter directly and securely, either as a Word document or in .pdf format (readable on Adobe Acrobat, which you can easily download free here).

How does it work?

First the school must register with School Letters Online. They will then be sent a unique username and login password which they use to set up their school structure on the School Letters Online website. This involves, for example, defining all of the form groups for each year and listing the form tutors. Once this has been done, the school site is ready to have pupils added.

Parents then need to carry out a very straightforward online registration process to receive their family username and security password. Once logged on to the School Letters Online website, each child is added under the family name, with details of school, form and contact addresses. That's all there is to it. From then on, whenever the school issues a letter or announcement, an email is sent to all registered parents advising of a new message, which can be accessed at home, at work or anywhere you can use the internet.

What's in it for parents?

The main benefit of School Letters Online to parents is that you are actually going to receive those important letters from school, as soon as they are issued, instead of finding out you’ve missed something important from another parent at the school gates. There is also a valuable contribution to school funds - for every new child added £1 of the annual £6 registration fee is given to the school as a contribution from School Letters Online.

It couldn’t be simpler. With School Letters Online, schools will benefit from a more efficient and secure means of communicating with parents, and boost school funds at the same time. For every child attending the school who is registered with School Letters Online, they will receive a £1 donation.
